Google Translate is enhancing its live translation capabilities with the introduction of two new updates aimed at improving user experience. These updates are designed to make audio translations more seamless and accessible in over 70 languages.
The first update addresses the needs of Android users, allowing them to keep live translations running even in the background. This feature is particularly useful for longer translation sessions, which statistics show now exceed five minutes for more than a third of users. With this update, users can multitask or lock their phone screen without interrupting the translation process. Although this feature is currently exclusive to Android, support for iOS devices is expected soon.
The second update benefits iOS users, enabling them to receive live translations directly through their phone’s earpiece. This capability, which was previously available on Android, is now being extended to iOS users worldwide. It allows users to simply hold their phone to their ear when headphones are not available, making it easier to hear important announcements at bustling places like airports or to follow along during crowded tours.
The latest improvements to Google Translate ensure that users can enjoy uninterrupted translations on Android while multitasking or with a locked screen, and for iOS users, live translations are now more accessible through the phone’s earpiece.
