Apple Releases iOS 18 Public Beta 3
Apple has released iOS 18 public beta 3 to eligible iPhone users enrolled in its public beta testing program. This update follows the developer beta 5 release and includes similar enhancements to the user interface and new features.
What’s New in iOS 18 Public Beta 3?
Distraction Control in Safari
Apple has introduced a new feature for its Safari browser that lets users hide unwanted content from webpages. This “Distraction Control” feature, initially available to developer beta users, is now accessible to public beta testers.
- How It Works:
- Accessed via the page menu in Safari.
- Users can select the “Hide Distracting Items” option to manually remove elements like sign-in pop-ups and overlays.
- Hidden content can be restored using the “Show Hidden Items” option.
Note: This feature is not an ad-blocker. Ads will reappear when the page is refreshed.
Changes to the Photos App
Apple has made several improvements to the redesigned Photos app based on user feedback.
- Removed Carousel View:
- The carousel view, which allowed users to swipe through daily updated picture highlights, has been removed.
- Improved “All Photos” Section:
- More photos are now displayed on the screen at once.
- Easier access to photo albums.
Other Changes
- New Dark Mode Icons:
- Updated icons for apps like Maps and Find My.
- Control Center Tweaks:
- Redesigned icons for features like cellular data and screen mirroring.
- Stolen Device Protection:
- Now accessible from both “Privacy and Security” and “FaceID and Passcode” menus in Settings.
How to Download and Install iOS 18 Public Beta 3
- Sign Up: Enroll in the public beta program on Apple’s beta website.
- Settings: On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
- Beta Updates: Tap on the Beta Updates option and select iOS 18 Public Beta.
- Software Update: Return to the Software Update page and wait for the download to appear.
- Agree to Terms: Agree to Apple’s terms and initiate the download process.
- Install: The installation will begin after the download is complete.
Note: It’s recommended to back up your iPhone before installing the beta.
